Action Paving Tack Spraying Case Study
Location: South-Central New Jersey, USA
Equipment Used: TPS250PT
Action Paving is a professional Paving Company located in South-Central New Jersey. The Stanley family began serving customers in the early 1950's installing asphalt driveways and parking lots within their community. With over 50 + years of paving experience, Action Paving still provides the same professional service and quality craftsmanship to its customers and tackles jobs of all sizes, from potholes to parking lots, to large commercial paving jobs.
Action Paving was recently doing a large paving job for a commercial company's shipping docks and parking lot. To perform this job, Action Paving chose to use their Marathon Equipment TPS250PT Hot Tack Sprayer to spray tack coat prior to paving.

When parking lots age, they sustain damage by oxidation, water infiltration, crumbling or sinking, cracking, warps or potholes. It is essential to make sure your foundation is solid and intact before repaving your lot.
Once the parking lot has been milled and cleared of debris, Action Paving used their Marathon TPS250PT Hot Tack Sprayer to spray CSS-1H, a slow setting asphalt emulsion designed for use as a tack coat, and formulated with a harder base asphalt (lower penetration) than CSS-1. CSS-1H emulsions are used for a variety of purposes. Slow setting emulsions are the most stable of emulsions and generally can be diluted with water and mixed with mineral fillers and aggregates.
Action Paving towed their Hot Tack Sprayer along the milled section of the pavement, spraying the asphalt emulsion to create a bond to adhere a fresh layer of asphalt to a lower level of pavement.
Once they were able to lay a fresh coat of asphalt emulsion to the parking lot, Action paving was able to proceed with laying down a fresh level of asphalt to finish their paving process.
